Since 1890, the Brochier family has perpetuated a tradition that began in the 16th century: the manufacture of exceptional fabrics and the printing of artists' scarves.
Since the creation of the workshop, 4 generations have succeeded, combining the deep taste of craftsmanship and an acute artistic sensitivity. The Brochier Soieries collection contains more than 100,000 textile designs representative of all periods of art history.
Our traditional squares are still printed with the silk screen printing technique, which is inspired by the manual stencil process.
The Jacquard weaving technique is still used for weaving Jacquard silk fabrics and the creation of our ties and scarves.
By turning the pages of our unique catalog, where Dufy rubs shoulders with Monet, Van Gogh, Picasso, Frida Kahlo, Cocteau, Combas and Basquiat, we can only dream of appropriating a little of their genius by choosing one of their creations, transposed on our natural silk scarves and ties.
In 1953 began a prolific collaboration between Joseph Brochier
(2nd generation of the Brochier) and Aimé Maeght, one of the greatest collectors and gallery owners of modern art in France. The genesis of this strong artistic link is represented by Miró's "Makemono". Every year since, Maeght Foundation will have us publish a drawing by an artist exhibited in their art gallery during the year. And will open for Brochier family the doors to the world of art, from national museums to independent artists.
Letter of thanks from Juan Miro to Joseph Brochier, sent from Palma de Mallorca in 1957,
4 years after the edition of "Makemono":
